Hello, Bonjour, Nihao!

Thank you for visiting my site. I’m Anny Chen, a Taiwanese-American children’s illustrator and designer living in Paris, France. I’m currently available for freelance illustration work in children’s publishing, including picture and board books, educational materials, and magazines.

Prior to becoming a freelance illustrator, I worked as a graphic designer for over ten years. I have a contemporary and colorful illustration style, featuring diverse characters and multicultural themes. I work digitally and have a solid understanding of print production processes. I also have a strong design sense, which shows in my bold color palettes, hand lettering, and visual storytelling.

I am inspired by nature, food, and mixed-cultures. I love illustrating stories that transform the mundane into something memorable, and diverse characters who connect in a meaningful way with the world around them.

I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, and I have worked and lived in New York City, San Francisco, and now Paris. Being multicultural myself, I have a sensitivity to different cultures and tastes, specifically in the US, UK, France, and East Asian markets. I’m fluent in English, and proficient in French and Mandarin Chinese.

I’m a huge bookworm (currently reading anything related to cognitive science and psychology, storytelling, childhood education, and creativity). I love thrifting at local flea markets, walking in nature, eating pasta and pastries, and just hanging out with my partner and our four-year-old son.
